About the Service
What our Indian visa services cover
Travellers from Australia generally need a visa before flying to India, and the right one depends on your passport, your purpose and where you live. The Government of India offers two main routes: an e-Visa, applied for online in limited categories, and a regular (paper) visa issued by an Indian Mission. iVacs Australia, a private documentation-assistance agency in Blacktown NSW, helps you prepare the paperwork for either route.
Our Indian visa services focus on the parts people find hardest: understanding which category the official sites describe for your purpose, completing the Government of India online form accurately, preparing a photograph to specification, and assembling the supporting documents on the official checklist.
We assist clients Australia-wide using scanned documents, phone and courier. A regular visa is lodged in person, by appointment, at the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC) run by VFS Global for your state or territory, so you generally attend yourself. To begin using our Indian visa services, contact us and we will send you our own short intake questionnaire. This is an iVacs document, not the Government of India visa application.
Please note: iVacs is not part of, authorised by or affiliated with the Government of India, the High Commission of India, any Consulate General or VFS Global. Every decision is made by the Indian authorities, and the charge for Indian visa services from iVacs is separate from any government or ICAC fee.
What We Offer
Our Visa Services
Our Indian visa services cover the six visa types below. Each card explains who the visa is generally for and how iVacs Australia helps with the paperwork.
Tourist Visa
Embrace the beauty and diversity of India with our Tourist Visa assistance. Ideal for those wishing to explore India's rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cities. We streamline the process, allowing you to focus on planning your adventure to India.
The tourist visa is for recreation, sightseeing and casual visits to friends or relatives, and generally cannot be used for other purposes. VFS Global notes it runs from the approval date, not your travel date.
Electronic Visa (e-Visa)
With the convenience of our Electronic Visa services, applying for an Indian visa is easier than ever. The e-Visa is a hassle-free option for tourists, business visitors, and those seeking short-term visits. Apply from the comfort of your home and receive your visa electronically, simplifying your travel preparations.
What arrives by email is an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA); the e-Visa is stamped in your passport on arrival. You can apply directly on indianvisaonline.gov.in; iVacs charges for form assistance only and cannot speed up a decision.
Business Visa
For meetings, trade discussions and similar commercial visits, a business visa is generally the right category. The official checklist typically asks for a letter from your Australian company and an invitation from the Indian company describing the proposed activities. Our Indian visa services include checking these letters before your appointment. Paid employment in India generally needs an Employment visa instead.
Entry Visa
Designed for individuals of Indian origin and their family members, the Entry Visa facilitates longer stays in India. Whether it's for reconnecting with your roots or extended family visits, iVacs Australia Services guides you through the application process to ensure compliance and peace of mind.
Official portals now generally list this category as the Miscellaneous (X) visa. It requires documentary proof of Indian origin or the family relationship, such as an old Indian passport or a birth or marriage certificate, which our Indian visa services can check.
Transit Visa
For travellers passing through India en route to another destination, our Transit Visa services ensure a smooth journey. We help you secure the necessary approvals for a brief stopover, making your travel as smooth as possible.
A transit visa must be obtained before departure and cannot be issued on arrival; evidence of onward travel is required. Travellers staying airside on a direct connection generally do not need one, within official limits; check with your airline and the Bureau of Immigration whether you must clear immigration.
Emergency Visa
Understanding the unpredictability of life, we offer Emergency Visa services for urgent travel to India. Our team prioritises these sensitive cases, offering expedited processing to meet your urgent needs.
This refers only to how quickly iVacs prepares your paperwork; we cannot speed up any decision. The High Commission in Canberra states emergency visas are not a visa category; missions grant them solely at their discretion for emergencies such as death or serious illness of immediate family in India.
Choosing the Right Visa
e-Visa, regular visa or OCI: which one do you need?
India offers two main visa routes, and a third option exists for many people of Indian origin. The right choice depends on your passport nationality, not simply on living in Australia, and on your purpose. It is usually the first question raised by people asking about Indian visa services.
e-Visa. Australian passport holders are on the official list of nationalities eligible for the e-Visa. At the time of writing, categories shown on the portal include e-Tourist, e-Business, e-Medical, e-Medical Attendant, e-Student, e-Family, e-Transit and e-Miscellaneous. Holders of other passports should check the portal's eligible-country list. The e-Visa is not available for employment, journalism or NGO activities. Read more on our India e-Visa page.
Regular (paper) visa. This route covers purposes the e-Visa does not, such as work, journalism or research, and applicants the portal directs to an Indian Mission, including people of Pakistani origin. Applications are lodged in person at the ICAC for your jurisdiction.
OCI card. If you previously held an Indian passport, or have a parent, grandparent or great-grandparent who was an Indian citizen, you may be eligible for Overseas Citizenship of India instead. OCI generally works as a lifelong, multiple-entry visa, although different conditions can apply to OCI granted on the basis of marriage, and eligibility has exclusions. OCI cardholders do not need a separate visa. See our OCI card page.
- Holiday, family visit or business trip on an Australian passport: check the e-Visa first.
- Work, journalism, research or an unlisted purpose: a regular visa lodged at the ICAC.
- Indian origin and regular travel to India: consider whether OCI suits you better.
Our Indian visa services can help you compare the routes, but the choice of category and the accuracy of the application remain yours. Visa on arrival is not currently available to Australian passport holders, so unless you hold an OCI card, a granted ETA or a regular visa is needed before travel.
Documents
Typical documents checked in our Indian visa services
Each visa type has its own official checklist on the VFS Global India-in-Australia website, and the Mission may ask for more. At the time of writing, the checklists for regular visas generally ask for the following.
- The Government of India online application form, printed and signed.
- Your original passport, generally with at least six months' validity and two blank pages, plus a copy of the photo page.
- One recent colour photograph, 2 x 2 inches, on a plain white or light background.
- Proof of your Australian residential address, matching the jurisdiction chosen on the form.
- Financial documents and your ICAC appointment letter.
- Non-Australian passport holders: proof of current Australian visa status, such as a VEVO record.
- Former Indian citizens: proof that the Indian passport was surrendered or cancelled.
- Children under 18: birth certificate, both parents' passport copies, and both parents' signatures or a consent letter.
Category-specific papers come on top: company and invitation letters for business travel, an admission letter for study, or proof of Indian origin or family relationship for the Entry (Miscellaneous X) visa. Indian visa services at iVacs include comparing your document set with the current checklist.
For an e-Visa, the portal asks for a recent square JPEG photograph on a white background and the passport photo page as a PDF; other documents depend on the category and must be in English.
Attestation: ask about this when booking Indian visa services, as checklist details can change. The current checklists say documents needing attestation must be attested by a Notary Public for NSW residents, while other states may use a Justice of the Peace.
Step by Step
How our Indian visa services work, step by step
Whether you visit our Blacktown office or work with us remotely, the steps are the same. With Indian visa services from iVacs, we prepare and check the paperwork, you lodge it, and the Indian authorities decide.
Tell us about your trip
Contact us with your passport nationality, state of residence, travel purpose and any Indian origin or previous Indian passport. These details decide which route applies, so we confirm them before any application form is started.
Confirm the route and category
We explain the difference between the e-Visa, a regular visa and OCI, and point you to the official eligibility information. You choose the category. If an e-Visa suits you, you can also apply directly on the Government of India portal without any intermediary.
Gather documents and photograph
We send a document list based on the current official checklist for your visa type. You supply clear scans, and we check your photograph against the Indian specification, which may differ from the standard Australian passport photo. Anything missing or unclear is flagged early.
Complete and review the online form
Through our Indian visa services we help you complete the Government of India online form and check names, passport number, date of birth and jurisdiction against your documents. You review every answer before final submission, because errors on the printed form generally cannot be corrected at lodgement.
Pay official fees and book your appointment
Government fees and any ICAC service charge are paid by you through official channels, separately from the iVacs charge. For a regular visa, you book an appointment on the VFS Global website for the ICAC serving your state or territory; walk-ins are not accepted.
Lodge, give biometrics and await the decision
You attend the ICAC in person with your signed form, passport and documents, and biometrics are generally collected. Our Indian visa services finish once the application is submitted; iVacs takes no part in follow-up and cannot prioritise or influence it. e-Visa applicants wait for the ETA and can check its status on the official portal.
Avoid Delays
Indian visa services: common mistakes that delay applications
Small, avoidable errors are a common cause of delay. The points below come up regularly in our Indian visa services work, and each reflects Government of India or VFS Global guidance.
- Using a look-alike website. The only official e-Visa site is indianvisaonline.gov.in; unofficial sites may look similar and charge extra.
- Choosing the wrong jurisdiction. Jurisdiction follows where you live. South Australian residents come under Sydney but attend the Adelaide ICAC, and a wrong selection may require a new application.
- A non-compliant photograph. A standard Australian passport photo may not meet the Indian specification, so ask for an Indian visa photo.
- Details that do not match the passport. Check name, nationality, passport number and date of birth before final submission; the applicant is responsible for accuracy.
- Selecting the wrong category. If the occupation on the form is journalist, the checklists say a Journalist visa is required even for a holiday.
- Leaving the old passport at home. If your passport is renewed after an ETA is issued, carry the old one as well.
- Booking too early. VFS Global advises against making travel arrangements until the visa is received, and e-Visa holders may enter only through entry points listed on the portal.
Applicants of Pakistani origin, and some other nationalities, may need extra forms and more time. Our Indian visa services are designed to catch these problems before lodgement, but no checking service can guarantee an outcome.
The Government of India advises that e-Visa applications are completely online, need no intermediary and carry no emergency or express fee. Any iVacs charge is solely for our own document-preparation help and cannot buy faster or priority processing.

FAQ
Indian Visa Services: Frequently Asked Questions
What types of visa services do you provide?
We offer assistance for tourist, business, student, work, and dependent visa applications, along with renewals and extensions.
Can you help with visa documentation and form filling?
Yes, our team provides complete guidance on document preparation, verification, and accurate form submission to ensure a smooth process.
How long does the visa process take?
Processing time varies by visa type and country, but we aim to complete each application as quickly as possible.
Do you offer visa services for multiple countries?
Yes, we assist with visa applications for several countries, including Australia, India, the USA, the UK, Canada, and Schengen nations.
Are your Indian visa services connected to the Government of India or VFS Global?
No. iVacs Australia is a private, independent documentation-assistance business in Blacktown NSW. We are not part of, authorised by or affiliated with the Government of India, the High Commission of India, any Consulate General or VFS Global. We prepare and check paperwork only, and every application is decided solely by the Indian authorities.
Can Australian passport holders apply for an Indian e-Visa?
Yes. At the time of writing, Australia is on the official e-Visa eligibility list. You can apply yourself on indianvisaonline.gov.in, or use our Indian visa services for help with the form. Eligibility depends on your passport, not where you live, and some applicants, including people of Pakistani origin, are directed to a regular visa instead.
Do I still attend in person if I use Indian visa services from iVacs?
For a regular (paper) visa, generally yes. VFS Global states that visa applications in Australia are lodged in person by appointment and cannot be sent by post or courier, and that biometric enrolment is mandatory with limited exemptions. Our Indian visa services can prepare your paperwork remotely, but under current rules you generally lodge it and give biometrics at the ICAC yourself.
Is the Indian e-Visa the same as a visa on arrival?
No. The official portal says visa on arrival is only for nationals of Japan, South Korea and the UAE. With an e-Visa you apply online and receive an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) by email. Confirm it shows as granted before flying and carry a printed copy; the visa is stamped at a designated immigration check post.
What is the e-Arrival Card, and is it a visa?
No, it is not a visa. It is a digital disembarkation card that travellers are currently asked to complete online shortly before arriving in India, and the official page describes it as free of cost. It is separate from any Indian visa services you have used; you complete it yourself on the official portal, and no agent is authorised to charge for it. Check the portal for current requirements.
Do OCI cardholders need a visa for India?
Generally not. The Bureau of Immigration states that OCI cardholders do not need a visa; they travel on a valid passport with the OCI card. If you are of Indian origin and visit often, OCI may be worth considering, although eligibility has exclusions and the consulates state there is no emergency OCI facility.
Can Indian visa services speed up an urgent or emergency application?
No. The Government of India makes no provision for emergency or express e-Visa fees, and the High Commission in Canberra states an emergency visa is not a visa category. It may be granted, solely at the mission's discretion, generally to people of Indian origin facing the death or serious illness of an immediate family member in India. See the official Emergency Contacts page. Indian visa services from iVacs only help prepare your paperwork.
